“Have a go, Joe,” Limerick Honour Legendary Captain

The late Joe O’Mahony, Limerick’s title-winning captain in 1980, has been honoured by the League of Ireland club with the retirement of the number four jersey in tribute. O’Mahony made over 400 appearances for the Blues between 1966 and 1986, leading them to the championship under Eoin Hand, and captaining the side in the European Cup against Real Madrid.

Young goalkeeper Luca Zidane, one of four sons of Zinedine in the Real Madrid academy, produced a string of saves to earn the man-of-the match award in last weekend’s Alkass Cup game with Manchester City.
