Pope Francis must have been working over-time. His club in Argentina San Lorenzo have reached a first ever Copa Libertadores final thanks to a thumping win in the semi-finals. There they’ll meet Paraguay’s Nacional who’ve also reached the showpiece for the first time. Here are the highlights.

Meanwhile, World Cup group rivals, and imminent visitors to Dublin, Sweden beat Norway 4-2 with Ibrahimovic grabbing a hattrick while Austria were beaten at home by Greece. Germany played out a 3-3 thriller with Paraguay.

Fightin Irish Battle Bravely in Big Apple

Ireland put in a battling display against Spain at New York’s Yankee Stadium early this morning. A depleted Irish side held the world champions scoreless until the 68th minute and had a goal from Sean St Ledger ruled out for offside before Juan Mata made it 2-0 in the dying minutes.
