In the fifth edition of the ongoing Póg Mo Goal Euro 2016 Match-day poster series Dublin based studio New Graphic have produced this gem for Ireland’s crunch home tie against Poland. In what is sure to be a crucial fixture in our qualification hopes the Boys in Green go face a strong test at the Aviva Stadium on March 29th.
Designer Diarmuid Slattery from New Graphic says of his design, “Having lived with Poles in the past and seen how fantastically the Polish treated us in (our darkest hour) Euro 2012, I wanted the poster to be about the Irish-Polish relationship. I just couldn’t get past Pope John Paul’s words to the youth of Ireland in ’79. Iconic. Of course he was also meant to be a handy goalkeeper when he was just Mr Karol Wojtyła. Then, recently Keano was looking like an old school Pope from the 1600s with the beard, and you know, deep down, Roy also loves the young people of Ireland!”
We have 200 copies of the poster to give away on the day of the game and one limited edition which we will give away in a competition on Facebook in the coming week.
