David Meyler and Robbie Brady have signed for Hull City after successful loans spells at the Championship high-flyers. Steve Bruce moved to secure the signings of the players, who both made their international débuts in 2012, as the Tigers seek to maintain their promotion push.
Hull had a bid of £2 million for Brady accepted by Manchester United but the move was almost scuppered amid rumours that Alex Ferguson wanted to speak to the Dubliner before finalising the transfer. Brady had been named in United’s Champions League squad list but the 20-year-old joins former Cork City star Meyler in a permanent switch to the KC Stadium.
Brady has impressed during Hull’s push for a return to the Premier League scoring once in 12 games. Meyler has netted three times in nine appearances.
The duo were handed débuts by Giovanni Trapattoni in the Oman friendly in London and both impressed, with Brady setting up Shane Long’s opener and getting on the score-sheet himself in a 4-1 win.
Both were also introduced to competitive World Cup action in the matches with Germany and the Faroe Islands.
