Major League Soccer’s 20th franchise NYCFC, co-owned by Manchester City and the New York Yankees, are asking fans to submit crest designs on their Twitter page.
A blank badge appeared on the club’s social media account on Monday, prompting plenty of spoof submissions.
NYCFC were announced as the league’s 20th club in May 2013 with the team’s expansion rights purchased by the Premier League’s Manchester City and the New York Yankees baseball team for $100 million. Former US international and Man City player, Claudio Reyna is the club’s sporting director.
New York City FC will be the first MLS franchise located in New York City with Thierry Henry’s New York Red Bulls based in Harrison, New Jersey.

In the meantime, Yankee Stadium will serve as a temporary home for the team beginning in 2015 when they are expected to enter league action.
