Liverpool have officially released images of the proposed Anfield redevelopment plan. The first phase of the expansion would take the stadium capacity to 54,000 with the second phase taking it to 58,000.
The £260 million development of the Main Stand and Anfield Road Stand will be submitted to Liverpool City Council this summer, with construction commencing in 2017 if approved. The stadium redevelopment is part of a wider renewal of the Anfield area by the council.
An additional 8,500 seats are set to be added to the Main Stand as well as incorporating the Liverpool crest into the design. A Hillsborough memorial will also be situated in the stand. Residents, fans and local businesses have been asked to give their views as part of its planning application.
