Ireland Held by Ten-Man Costa Rica

A penalty miss by Robbie Keane meant Ireland failed to beat ten-man Costa Rica in Philadelphia after Kevin Doyle had given Martin O’Neill’s side a 19th minute lead.

O’Neill was frustrated his players couldn’t make the extra man count pointing to a difficult 15 minute spell at the start of the second half. David Forde’s penalty concession allowed Costa Rica back into the game but it was his opposite number who was made to work hardest as Shane Long again rued missed opportunities.

Doyle’s terrific header did give us this superb commentary.
