“Our City, Our Club, Our Crest. We are LAFC.”
LAFC have unveiled their new crest and detailed the inspiration behind the design.
Spark International’s and the creative team of Tue Nguyen and Matthew Wolff are behind the design and a slick promotional video has accompanied the unveil to outline the concept behind the crest.
The LA monogram in features a wing in an homage to the City of Angels. The name of the team is set in the Neutraface typeface which is based on the signage of architect Richard Neutra. Downtown Los Angeles is known for its Art Deco buildings from the 1920’s. It sits in a shield inspired by the shape of the Los Angeles city shield. The club allowed fans to pick the colours of the new team on social media late last year.
The MLS’ newest expansion franchise owned by a host of famous backers including Magic Johnson, Mia Hamm, Vincent Tan and Will Ferrell will have a brand new 22,000 capacity stadium when they begin playing in the in 2018 season. The $250 million development will be situated next door to the LA Memorial Coliseum in South Los Angeles.
