Making the Adidas Champions League Finale

The UEFA Champions League matchball, the Finale, was inspired by the skyline and rooftops of Lisbon, the host city for this year’s final.

The Estádio da Luz (Stadium of Light), the home of Benfica, is the venue for the showpiece game on Saturday 24th May. It’s the first time the city will host the final since Celtic’s Lisbon Lions defeated Inter Milan in 1967.

The Adidas ball is created using a special process that uses thermo bonding technology, which does away with the need for stitching. This means that the ball is more stable, rounder, takes on less water and can incorporate the star panels. The ball is rigorously tested in Adidas’s AIT lab in Herzogenaurach before being released for general sale, ensuring the highest quality.
