The Crying Game: Ronaldo, Pelé Awarded Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo paid tribute to the recently deceased Eusebio as he was awarded the Ballon d’Or at the FIFA gala ceremony. The Real Madrid star, who grew up in poverty in Madeira and has been crowned the world’s best player for a second time, gave an emotional speech as he accepted the prize. And with his mother looking on, he was joined on stage by his son Cristiano Jnr. There were tears also for Brazilian legend Pelé, who was awarded an honorary Ballon d’Or. The 73-year-old said he had always been jealous that he could never claim the prize in his playing days. Meanwhile Zlatan Ibrahimovic took the Puskas award for the best goal of 2013 for his outrageous bicycle kick against England.
