PAOK fans in Greece created an incredible pyro display before their cup clash with Olympiacos, causing the game to be held up for over an hour, while the visitor’s bench was also strewn with dead fish.
The Stadio Toumbas was lit up with a ring of red fire ahead of the second-leg tie which PAOK won 1-0 to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first game in Piraeus. Both teams were reduced to ten men in a fiery encounter.
Before kick-off, home fans created an incredible flare display while bizarrely throwing dead fish in the dug-out of their rivals. Flares also rained down on the pitch. The referee ordered the players back to the dressing rooms as the tempestuous atmosphere threatened to spill over. PAOK scored early in the second half to take the lead in the tie on aggregate. After 15 minutes of injury time in a game marred by brawls, PAOK supporters stormed the playing field with reports of attacks on members of the Olympiacos team.
PAOK will face Panathinaikos in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Athens on April 26.
