Described by manager Stephen Kenny as ‘the season of all seasons’, Dundalk FC’s 2016 campaign is one that will never be forgotten and a new publication, launched this Saturday, December 17, will provide supporters with the perfect memento of an incredible year.
Dundalk FC: Making History is a 432-page book that tells the story of a momentous season that saw the Lilywhites win a third successive SSE Airtricity League title as well as embark on an unforgettable – and record breaking – 12-game European odyssey.
The book, which follows on from 2014’s Dundalk FC: Champ10ns 2014 and last year’s Dundalk FC: The Double 2015, is priced at just €15 and launches this Saturday night in The Lilywhite Lounge, Oriel Park at 9pm.
Produced by Dundalk Democrat Sports Editor, Gavin McLaughlin, local photographer Ciaran Culligan and designed by Dundalk based studio Grandson Design, the book covers all 63 games, right from the opening pre-season match with Cliftonville on February 2 right through to the final Europa League game in Israel on December 8.
The club’s European adventure is heavily featured with each of the 12 games – including the historic occasions against AZ Alkmaar and Maccabi Tel Aviv – covered in depth and there are reaction pieces from members of Dundalk’s title winning squad, along with manager Stephen Kenny, first-team coach Vinny Perth and general manager Martin Connolly.
There is also a 15-page photo gallery section dedicated to the Lilywhite Army, the fans who have supported Dundalk both at home and abroad in 2016 and a comprehensive stats section.
The publication will be available to buy from local outlets such as Callan’s Off License, Coffee Time, Goldstar Jewellers, Print Express, Felda and Muckian’s Spar on the Carrick Road. The book is also available to buy online at www.dundalkfcseasonreview.com
